Amanda-Louise Funeral Directors - Our Transparent Information About Funeral Costs

Prices - Explained

Some fees are essential, others are optional, so the total cost will depend on the choices you make. Here at Amanda-Louise Funeral Directors, experience has taught us that no two funerals are the same, so being completely independent private business means we are not forced to set packages and all our services can be customised so you pay for what you want and need; however you may find our guide of choices helpful.

We treat  our clients and prospective clients fairly, with respect and dignity, as well as keeping in mind that some may be vulnerable, so our stance is to be transparent and clearly explain about pricing too. Read below how we do this.

When prospective clients contact us, we will ask some questions for us to gain insight to be able to provide appropriate information, so you can make the decisions right for your wants and needs. As funeral director and undertaker, we will discuss how we deliver our high standards of care for those who have died including how we keep them safe, and how we can support the bereaved people with planning funerals, and coming to terms with a loss.  We are more than happy to meet with you with no obligation to talk through your requirements, either at our premises or in your own home, or via online technology. Any estimates you provide state clearly which costs are attributable to you and which costs will be paid to a third party on the client’s behalf. Third parties are named wherever possible; After we have discussed your requirements, we  you with a written itemised estimate that clearly states which costs are attributable to us and which costs will be paid to a third party on your behalf, and name those third parties wherever possible. The estimate (and the invoice) is broken down into 3 sections; 1) our professional funeral director fees 2) any additional services you require from us and 3) any third party disbursements costs for example church, crematorium, other venues, medical fees, celebrant, florist, newspaper announcements, etc.  We will ensure those disbursements included in the invoice reflect the actual amount spent. Should there be any changes from the estimate to the final bill, we will clearly explain any limitations or conditions on our estimate, as well as any conditions relating to payment terms or additional costs or conditions relating to any pre-paid funeral plans for example. We will assume that you have the right to instruct us to carry out your instructions, and that you have the mental capacity to make decisions alone. We ask that as a family, you have agreed which member of the family will become our ‘client’ and they understand their legal responsibilities of doing so. Our estimate shows our terms of payment; which currently is for all unattended funerals full payment is required on booking, and with attended funerals the crematorium or church fees payable on booking with the remaining balance 3 clear days before the funeral. If you are unable to pay before the funeral, then we can discuss other arrangements. We will provide in formation of different schemes and grants available to help if you are unable to pay the costs of a funeral. We send out the estimate by email, but if you want us to provide this in letter format, please let us know. Along with our estimate, we provide a written copy of our full terms and conditions. We ask that you take time to read through these and if you are happy to sign these terms acknowledging and agreeing tot he information which will become a contractual contract. We can then start to work on your behalf. Our t&cs show how you can cancel our contract at any time. Our full pricing information (including an explanation of third party costs) is available to read in our funeral home, and on our website. There are regulations from the CMA (Competition and Markets Authority) which mean that all funeral directors have a legal requirement to publish their prices in the same format so you can compare them. There are standard fees that all funeral directors must provide and additional fees for services the CMA have not specified. There is no VAT on funeral charges but memorial works and hospitality are subject to VAT.
