Our High Street Presence - What Being Specialists Means To Us

We choose to be situated in the high street as we consider ourselves to be inclusive not only amongst our fellow business people in the town, but also in the community. We knew from the onset we wanted to have a fresh approach, that our priority was to be person-centred which would set us apart (rather than some focusing on brand new hearses, expensive coffins and funeral directors being inflexible or remaining in the Victorian era insisting what a funeral 'should be'. We on the other hand, wanted to empower and support everyone to have a better experience of funerals, and we believe with our down to earth approach which is appealing to all people from different walks of life, that a funeral can be whatever you want it to look and feel like.

I wanted our clients to feel 100% cared for and listened to. I wanted them to know how we compassionately, gently and thoughtfully care for the person who has died and their surviving family and friends, and one way is visually seen from our beautiful funeral space.

Unlike some funeral directors, we prefer to have a "open look" where our blinds are open (unless there is a need to close them).

As leading experts in our field, we understand that death is part of living and we work hard to demonstrate its okay to talk about death, funerals and grief to empower adults and children to have a positive experience. As a society in the UK, many people do not talk about it and this can be particularly difficult when they are then faced with a death, as they havent got the tools to understand their emotions.

Our window for example, often displays a variety of coffins which often leads to open conversations about choice. We do not do this to be insincere or upset anyone, but to demonstrate choice and help people to talk about funerals.

I am aware that some people do not want to see a coffin in our window that's been tastefully decorated, and I listen to their view. I then explain that we are not being insincere or go out of our way to be disrespectful, yet we nurture and educate that one size doesnt fit all when it comes to funerals. As a society that doesnt talk freely about funerals, our window display helps break down those barriers as to what is possible.

Choice is a key part of what we offer here at Amanda-Louise's.

Im thrilled that we will give tours of all our establishment, and this includes our own beautiful, light filled mortuary. After all, we have nothing to hide, and welcome any of our families who want to see where their loved one is and also have the opportunity to be involved in their care when they are a guest with us. This shows how we value treating the deceased as individuals.

Im super proud of what we have built at Amanda-Louise Funeral Services, from the care we provide to everyone in our mortuary to the calm space throughout our funeral home, giving everyone the comfort knowing they can have the luxury of a home from home feeling. So being specialists means to us, that we make a positive impact on society.
